Fox Reveals Idol's First Season 8 "Fix"


It was almost a throwaway line at Fox's Thursday upfront presentation, but it undoubtedly will be welcome news to most American Idol viewers: One of the first announced changes in place for Season 8 is "predominantly" half-hour results shows, versus hour-long, overstuffed and sometimes painfully bloated build-ups to a simple, "See ya!"

Less filler, sounds great!

This is but the first tweak in store for the next cycle, in which Fox brass hope to inject new energy, bigger "twists and turns" and better storytelling.

Her rep has confirmed it : Jennifer Lopez’s sister, Lynda (a.k.a Ly-Lo) is expecting her first child. The 34-year-old news anchor showed off her baby bump for the first time at a Christian Dior party in New York on Monday which she attended with her boyfriend Adam Goldfried.

Lindsay Lohan ditched two of her regular things on this hot Los Angeles Saturday — BFF (and maybe more) Samantha Ronson and her signature leggings.

The blonde struggling actress took a break from her usual for a pool party in Brentwood, CA today. And from the looks of it, she was there with mostly men, and though she wasn’t spotted in her swimsuit, she was scantily clad in a short tank dress while carrying her staple leather jacket.

Before she became connected at the hip to Miss Ronson, Lindsay was beginning to get a reputation as a major maneater. Could she be falling back into her old ways?

In a rare public outing together, actress Bryce Dallas Howard and husband Seth Gabel catch a movie at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood on Friday.

Bryce, 27, is best known for her roles in Spider-Man 3, Lady in the Water and The Village. She’s also the daughter of Academy Award-winning film director and producer Ron Howard.

Seth, 26, graduated New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and currently stars as booze-loving party animal Jeremy Darling on ABC’s hit drama Dirty Sexy Money. The series was picked up by ABC for the 2008-09 television season.

The couple have a 15-month-old son named Theodore “Theo” Norman Howard Gabel.

Pop star Ashlee Simpson is preparing for the biggest day of her young life right now, as the little sister of Jessica Simpson readies to walk down the aisle with fiancé, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz.

Around noon on Saturday, the groom arrived via limo at the Encinco, Calif., home of Ashlee's dad Joe Simpson, where the sunset ceremony will be held outdoors, but under white tents.

Judgingwill be a star-studded affair. Of course big sis Jess will be there as will her on-off beau Tony Romo. The pair arrived at Joe's house before noon today in the Employee of the Month star's Range Rover.

Also expected to be in attendance are Nicole Richie and her rocker babydaddy Joel Madden. Obviously the other members of Fall Out Boy will make the scene for their de facto leader's wedding. Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker is on the invite list, as is Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas.

Sources inside the wedding say the bridesmaids will be wearing Vera Wang gowns, though we have yet to confirm if Ashlee will do likewise.

The event is being catered by celeb chef Wolfgang Puck, whose staff began to arrive on the scene around 3pm PT.

Marcia Cross, daughters Eden and Savannah, 15 months, and their nanny (not pictured) did some grocery shopping at a Whole Foods in Brentwood today. The girls seemed to enjoy their outing and helping mommy carry the tomatoes.
Marcia recently told Access Hollywood, that since becoming a mom she has been the “happiest creature on the planet.”

'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' to be a film again?

Producer Stephen Byrd is planning to make a film version of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" starring the all-black cast of his current Broadway revival, which has recouped its $2.1 million capitalization cost.

Byrd said he had secured the rights to a new film version of "Cat" from the estate of scribe Tennessee Williams and intends to begin lensing in 2009, subject to the availability of thesps Terrence Howard, Anika Noni Rose, James Earl Jones and Phylicia Rashad.
